Holiday from Real
Today was a strange sort of day. The weather was quite hot yet cloudy for most of the day. It got cooler in the late afternoon/evening time but still not sufficiently cold.... daylight savings time is coming sometimes near the end of the month. That always depresses and infuriates me.
In theory, Israel has the longest winter. We switch to winter time before everyone else (blame the damn religious folks) and we switch back to summer time along with the rest of the world. In theory. In reality, we have the shittest winter ever. We hardly see any rain, so I can't really mention things such as hail or, God forbid, snow, without rolling my eyes and sighing.
I find myself wearing short-sleeved t-shirts and sock-free Crocs till around late-November(!!) time and back to short-sleeves and Crocs by March. I bought a new coat but the most I've used it was in my 4-days England trip.
But with all of the words of complaint I have to this shitty country and its shitty weather, I can't deny the fact we get many glorious sunny days, if such days take your fancy. The people of the world could come vacate in Israel for most of the year, and in the southern part of the country (the dead sea, Eilat) all year around and enjoy the awesome sun and spectacular beaches. The heat could get unbearable, but you will never need a sunbed in this country and you'll very rarely feel truly cold. For all of Israel's flaws, I can say this much about it...
Now if we just figure out what to do with those pesky Palestinians and radical-right government-to-be...
